Remember Jeep’s Hurricane Concept? No? That’s ok, we’ll refresh your memory. The Jeep Hurricane was a concept originally debuted at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show. The vehicle, with its one piece body constructed out of mostly light weight carbon fiber, sits on top of a four-wheeled steering system, allowing the Jeep to move sideways and even make 360 degree turns in a circular motion:

The Hurricane holds two 5.7 liter HEMI engines – at the front and rear of the vehicle. Two separate shifters move the wheels to invert the tires or even position horizontally so that it can drive sideways or in a circle, giving the ability to make quick turn-arounds. Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President of Chrysler Group Design at the time stated “Jeep Hurricane is simply the most maneuverable, most capable and most powerful 4×4 ever built.” The Hurricane is also an animal at going off road – having the ability to approach an angle of 64 degrees, and a departure angle of 86.7 degrees.

Jeep Hurricane even won the Popular Science “Best of what’s new” award that year.
